COBS Bread HL Coach of the Year - Qasim Malik
Qasim Malik of the Peewee Cardinals was awarded the HL Coach of the Year award by Allison Zuraw of COBS Bread on August 14. Qasim was nominated by several of the Cardinals’ parents - and even one other peewee head coach! Many of the nominations spoke of how Qasim brought the team together as a family. A typical comment “when they are on the field all the players are his kids. He has done a wonderful job teaching the kids respect for each other, opposing teams and the game itself”. Congratulations Qasim!
COBS Bread Umpire of the Year - Aidan Farronato
Aidan Farronato was selected Level One Umpire of the Year and presented with a huge gift basket (including free bread for a year!) by Allison Zuraw of COBS Bread on August 14th. Aidan was selected by our association’s Umpire in Chief and Umpire Scheduler, with input from coaches, convenors and fellow umpires. Congratulations Aidan!
Used equipment needed! As our seasons wind down, our House League Baseball program is asking our rep and house league players to please consider donating any equipment that will not be needed for next year. Bat regulations often change as players advance from peewee to bantam to midget - or from house league to select to rep. Our greatest need is lightweight (with “drops” of 8, 9 or 10 ounces) metal bats and any catcher’s equipment. Please drop off any donations you may have at the clubhouse attention Dennis McAree. Thanks for your help!
