2017 Tournament News

Congratulations to the Blue Jays 2018 Peewee House League Champions!

The Jays edged the Yankees in a championship game highlighted by an out of the park home run by Sean Hussel. The Jays advanced to the final after finishing the round robin portion of the tournament in a three way tie for the last spot in the championship game. A second tiebreaker was required before the Jays claimed the final spot, also by one-tenth of a run per inning over the Orioles and Pirates. The Pirates fell just short, in spite of an out of the park game - tieing grand slam by Julian Palermo earlier in the tournament.

Congratulations to the Orioles 2018 Tyke House League Champions!

The Orioles and Cardinals played one of the most exciting championship games we’ve ever had. Two extra innings were required to break a tie before the Orioles won in the eighth inning. The Orioles had advanced to the finals by the narrowest of margins, edging the Pirates by one-tenth of a run per inning after the two teams had played to a 10 - 10 tie during the round robin portion of the tournament. The tournament featured several very close, exciting games. Thirteen of the 20 tyke/peewee games played were decided by three runs or less.

To date, the team's record is 45-1-1.

MINOR BANTAM TWINS 1 FINALISTS IN BRANTFORD For the third time this season the Twins 1 team were finalists in tournament play. In Brantford July 21-23, 2017 the Twins battled hard all weekend long to win another berth to the big show. The team dug deep to beat a tough Chatham team in the quarters and walked it off against North York in the semis. They ran out of gas and lost to the well rested host team Brantford in the finals. Well done Twins!

Twins battled for the win in what turned out to be a slugfest against their rivals MNBA Tigers in a gritty 3 hour semi-finals game in Niagara Falls on July 7-9, 2017. The game on Friday night was rained out, so the Twins were forced to play 3 games on Sunday. After the final round robin game, they were seeded 3rd heading into the semi-finals. Twins jumped to an early lead only to lose it when the Tigers tied it up. But the Twins never gave up and answered with run after run. The bats were hot hot hot with the Twins coming out on top after playing earlier that morning against a well rested Tigers team. Great job Twins! The 3rd game proved to be too much for the Twins and eventually ran out of gas to lose the finals against Ancaster.

Congratulations to the MSBA Pee Wee House League All-Stars who won two of their three games at the Select Pee Wee Tournament on June 24 and 25. After a rough initiation into select tournament play, the team, coached by Eddie Lee, William Church, Ken Tindale and Tyler Simpson, bounced back and showcased their ample abilities in defeating teams from Thornhill, 9-3 and Bloordale, 16-5.

The Minor Bantam Twins coached by Bryan Bando, Vince Del Rosario and Mike Miocevich were finalists in Bolton over the June  23-25 weekend. It was a hard fought battle with great clutch hitting and stellar pitching to win a berth into the Semi-finals. A win against the undefeated Richmond Hill Phoenix team gave the Twins a ticket to the big show. After leading for most of the game,  the Aurora bats proved to be too much in a 10-9 loss in extra innings. Great effort by both teams in what was an exciting Tournament finish.

Twins win Rookieball Tourney in Vaughan

Congratulations to Coach Kevin Challenger and his Mississauga Southwest Twins team on their walk off victory to win 7-6. It was an excellent game against Oakville A's and both teams played so hard.

Congratulations to the Minor Bantam Twins 1 Qualifying for the OBA Provincials!

Five teams battled for two spots to the final showdown.... the OBA Provincials. The Twins coached by Bryan Bando, Vince Del Rosario and Mike Milocevich went undefeated in the COBA AA Qualifiers, August 18-20. The best match was against a tough Burlington team in a nail biter right down to the final out. It featured outstanding pitching and spectacular defensive plays that held the opposing team to only 1 run. The Twins fought back to score 2 runs in the top of the 7th to pull ahead and held them off for the win. A battle of the bats against arch rivals MNBA Tigers showed what the Twins were made of defeating them 6-3 to solidify their spot in the Provincials. The Twins will be heading to Brantford, Ontario Labour Day Weekend as COBA's #1 seed. Good luck Twins!
